Deaf Scientist Corner - Website

The Deaf Education Program at Texas Woman's University has announced the world wide availability of Deaf Scientist Corner, http://www.twu.edu/dsc a website devoted to the biographies of 35 famous deaf scientists. There are sign language video's for science terms as well as for words that will expand the vocabulary of students who are deaf and hard of hearing. The website includes biographical information such as the scientist's preferred mode of communication, early education, hobbies, family, higher education, career choice, and information regarding the science behind the scientist.  

Additionally there is an educational wiki (http://deafscientistcorner.pbwiki.org) that supports the website by providing teachers with many resources to aid lesson planning. The wiki contains other websites related to the science of the deaf scientists, lesson plans, Power Points and science experiment video's that are signed and captioned. The wiki is fully interactive. Teachers of students who are deaf and hard of hearing all over the world can post their lesson plans, activities, website, etc by simply requesting access to the wiki.
