The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) has started a national public education campaign called, It's a Noisy PLanet. Protect Their Hearing. This is an effort to increase awareness among parents of children ages 8 to 12 about the causes and prevention of noice-induced hearing loss. We believe deaf or hard-of-hearing children are entitled to full communication access in their home, school, and community. We also believe that language development, respect for the Deaf, and access to deaf and hard-of-hearing role models are important to assure optimal intellectual, social, and emotional development.
