Autism spectrum Disorder and Deafness Study

  Gayle Goldstein, M.A. (Ph.D. Candidate) is working with Dr. James Bebko, Professor of Psychology, York University on a research project. The goal of this study is to understand the cognitive, imitation and language abilities of indivudls who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder, who are deaf and those who are deaf and have an Austim Spectrum Disorder. This study hopes to better understand the family perspective by understanding the stressors experienced, the coping resources used to help in providing care for family members, as well as the services sought and received by families. It is hoped that this study can help to provide professionals and parents more information about these individuals, how effective services are, and what is needed by individuals and their families.

Individuals who are Deaf, who are hearing with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, and who are Deaf with an Autism Spectrum Disorder of any age and their families are asked to participate.
